Labalaba Scores 4 In Malolo Big Win

Winger Nacanieli Labalaba scored four tries in the second half as Malolo thrashed a hapless Tailevu side 59-12 in the Skipper Cup clash at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

What Happened: Malolo scored the first try in the fourth minute to flanker Semisi Lomani which was converted by fullback Timoci Tavuto.

Tailevu drew level in the 31st minute from a try to centre Eparama Vulavou which was converted as they settled at 7-7.In the 33rd minute Malolo scored through team captain Veniona Vuki and onverted by Tavuto 14-7.

In the 36th minute second-five eighth Sailosi Taka scored the second try for Tailevu, which as not converted
Halftime: Malolo 14-12 Tailevu.

In the 42nd minute Malolo scored another try through halfback Joseva Kuricuva. This was followed by a try to Labalaba and later to  Taniela Vatunicoko which was converted by Tavuto.Labalaba scored three tries in the 58th , 61st and 72nd  minutes to seal their big win.

 

Big Play: Labalaba put on a man of the match performance.

 

Star Turn: Lock forward Tevita Ratuva played a commanding role for Malolo.

Malolo coach Ratu Mosese Volavola;

“We staged a good comeback in the second half but I was disappointed with our performance in the first half. We play Nadroga in the next round and we have to improve our performnace.”

 

Tailevu coach Samisoni Bai;

“ I thank the boys because this a development  team.Even though they lost, the boys played a good game. Malolo played a grand game, some poor decisions in defence  proved costly for us.”
