Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his Government were praised by the people of Tailevu yesterday for his leadership and the many developments they had done for Fijians.
The people expressed their gratitude in a full traditional welcome ceremony accorded to the PM as chief guest during the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting at Nauluvatu Village in Nakelo, Tailevu. While presenting the iqaloqalovi to Mr Bainimarama, the people’s spokesperson, Ratu Ravuama Nakaiwalu, said they were pleased with his leadership because there was no discrimination and he cared for all Fijians. In other presentations, the PM heard that gone were the days when the voices of only a few were heard.
They said now the FijiFirst Government was hearing the voices of all Fijians.
They also thanked the PM for the infrastructure developments.
They said their children were now attending schools, people had easy access to health centres. Roads had reached their villages and electricity and Government services was good.
Mr Bainimarama also thanked the people of Nakelo for the traditional ceremony.
Day one of the meeting was totally dedicated to the talanoa session with the PM.
Today, Roko Tui Tailevu Iliesa Delasau said the chairman, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, would chair the meeting.
He said what was supposed to be covered at the meeting yesterday would be discussed today.
After the presentations from representatives of Government ministries, he said all council matters would be discussed then. He said they also had to pass the council’s 2018–2019 Budget. The Tailevu Holdings, he said would also make a presentation.
Meanwhile, Mr Bainimarama reminded the civil servants at the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting to attend the meetings, answer questions and take action.
Meeting the civil servants after the talanoa session yesterday, the PM said he did not want to hear the same questions repeated in the next meeting. Some issues raised at the talanoa session yesterday were from the past talanoa sessions.
