A 33-year-old farmer who is charged with one count of rape waived his rights to legal counsel and opted to represent himself.
It is alleged that on February 12, 2019 the accused raped his 40-year- old cousin in Tailevu.
Justice Daniel Goundar asked the accused why he did not want to engage a legal counsel and the accused replied that he was innocent.
Justice Goundar told the accused that he needed a legal representation whether he was innocent or not.
The case is adjourned to March 26.
