The Macuata rugby team needs a bonus point win against Tailevu in Saturday’s Skipper Cup clash if they are to make it to the top eight.
The Voreqe Bainimarama- coached side has moved up to the ninth spot after the win against Yasawa in Lautoka, last Saturday.
“We count this game as the final,” Bainimarama said.
“This is a crucial game for us. We’re hosting Tailevu at Subrail Park and we must win this game.”
Bainimarama was grateful to his players for keeping their top eight chances alive by beating Yasawa after their earlier loss to Ba.
Tailevu suffered a 15-8 loss against Lautoka last Saturday and will be out steer their campaign back on track.
Tailevu head coach Samisoni Baikeitoga was disappointed with the loss that he did not want comment about the game.
In another interesting battle for the top eight spot, Namosi coach Maxwell Hughes is calling on their supporters to back them up against Yasawa at Churchill Park, Lautoka, on Saturday.
Yasawa who is now at the bottom of the points table cannot be ruled out after they beat Lautoka 17-11, two weeks ago.
Hughes said they’ve moved up to the top eight after their first Skipper Cup win and would be put to register their second win this weekend.
He attributed their recent success to the presence of the Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua who came to watched them play Ba last Saturday.
