The Fiji Red Cross Society has started delivering relief packs to some areas affected by Tropical Cyclone Ula last week.

Relief packs were distributed to families in Waicoka Village, Tailevu, whose homes were flooded during heavy rain.

Fiji Red Cross operations manager Eseroma Ledua said requests had been received from Waicoka and Lovoni Village in Ovalau.

“The only place that we have assisted so far are some families in Waicoka Village. One report also came from Lovoni Village. We are liaising with them,” Mr Ledua said.

He said a team was on standby to accompany a Government delegation to the Lau Group to assess damage. Red Cross relief supplies include clothes, hygiene kits, tarpaulins, blankets, water containers, non-food items and water.
