The new site for Silana village in Dawasamu, Tailevu has already been surveyed by the iTaukei Affairs Board, said village spokesperson Aisea Cama.

Mr Cama said after the survey, the village boundary was demarcated and a swearing ceremony followed.

Mr Cama said this was the first swearing ceremony he had witnessed happening on the new village site.

This he said was a very sacred ceremony where the landowners whole heartedly gave their land to be the new village site.

He said the swearing-in ceremony was done after the new village boundary was demarcated.

Mr Cama who was also at a talanoa session with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama  at Bureivanua District School, asked the Prime Minister if he could help in the speedy levelling of the new site.

Mr Bainimarama in his reply said that all village site levelling would come under the jurisdiction of the Fiji Roads Authority.

He said the FRA had priority in fixing all damaged roads first and would start the site levelling after the roads were attended to.

Mr Cama said villagers had wanted to move and some had wanted to build their houses at the new site.

A total of 35 houses he said would  relocate.
