Nasinu villagers in Dawasamu, Tailevu, yesterday thanked Fulton Hogan Hiways for saving a bridge that is a vital link.
One of its workers, Vonivate Nayavusowata, 35, said they were doing a road check yesterday morning when they came across the broken bridge near the village.
“We contacted the main branch in Suva and sent them few pictures. Straight away they gave us the go ahead to start the work,” he said.
He added that there were branches blocking the water culvert so the water overflows were causing damage to the bridge.
“There was a big hole beside the culvert so the buses stopped from one end of the road. Villagers had to find ways of crossing to the other end,” he said.
